Professional video calls: tips to improve your quality

Due to the situation in which we find ourselves, many of us have had to adapt to the now famous telework. The video call has thus become an indispensable tool to break the barrier of distance and maintain contact with our professional environment.

Do you want to become some pros of this tool? Here are some tips to improve the quality of video calls:

First of all, clean the camera

It may seem obvious, but we forget! Having the camera of our device dirty may be the reason for not achieving a good image quality in video calls. Therefore, we advise you to get into the habit of cleaning the chamber before the meeting begins.

1. Measure distance and angle

Who has not ever been scared when activating the camera and seeing his face on the front page? To avoid this, it is important to take care of the distance and the angle at which we place ourselves with respect to it. The ideal is to keep approximately one meter away and record ourselves in a short medium shot (from the middle of the torso upwards). Placing the camera at eye level and at a right angle will also help us not to distort our image.

2. Seek the light

Light is a fundamental element in video calls. In this case, the most important thing is not to place the camera against the light, to avoid that the only thing you see on screen is our silhouette. What is the password? Position ourselves near a window or light entrance and thus gain image quality. In the event that the video call is in the afternoon / night or that you do it in a dimly lit room, a trick may be to use a front light such as a table lamp, for example.

3. Take care of the image

Being at home is a symbol of comfort, but we have to take care of the image we transmit, especially if it is a work video call. That is why it is important to choose a clean, tidy room with a neutral background, so as not to reveal too much personal information and project a professional image. Of course, we can be in sneakers! Nobody will know about that;)

4. Attention to audio

Apart from the image, the audio is also a relevant factor to consider in video calls. To improve its quality, it is advisable to choose a quiet room and turn off other devices that may be generating background noise. Important! Respect turns to speak. It is best to keep the microphone icon off when you are not speaking, so as not to interrupt the other parties.
